Ron Wilkie is a Canadian landscape painter whose detailed, immersive scenes pay homage to the storied legacy of the Group of Seven. Working in both oil and watercolour, Wilkie’s work reflects a reverence for Canada’s rugged northern terrain—especially its forests, lakes, and wilderness light. With richly composed views and layered realism, his paintings invite viewers to re-enter their own memories of the land, making them highly collectible for those who value both emotional resonance and technical mastery.
Originally trained as an illustrator, Wilkie spent much of his professional life in graphic design, earning professional designations (R.G.D. and MGDC) while building a successful career. Though art was a childhood passion—he spent early years sketching Disney characters and landscapes inspired by Tom Thomson—it wasn’t until later in life that he returned to painting full time. His design background continues to influence his process: compositions are created digitally before being transferred to canvas, allowing for refined control over layout and light.
Wilkie’s work, though inspired by tradition, is unmistakably his own—offering a blend of nostalgia, place-making, and painterly depth. Over the past 15 years, he has exhibited in leading galleries across Ontario, including Westland Gallery (London), Colborne Street Gallery (Fenelon Falls), Paula White Diamond Gallery (Kitchener), Aird Gallery (Toronto), and Mann Gallery (St. Catharines). He has been juried into exhibitions with the Colour and Form Society and the Canadian Federation of Artists. His paintings and prints are held in private collections across Canada and the United States.
For collectors seeking expressive Canadian landscape painting rooted in a timeless aesthetic and executed with modern precision, Ron Wilkie’s work stands as a compelling and enduring choice.
