(b. Hamilton, Ontario | Lives and works in Ancaster, Ontario)

Joseph Duda is a Canadian contemporary artist best known for his non-representational paintings that challenge the boundaries of visual language. Rooted in abstraction, his work explores the tension between chance and control, intuition and structure—inviting collectors to engage with art as a space for open-ended interpretation and discovery. Each composition becomes a dynamic field where imagination, experimentation, and constructed order coexist.

A graduate of the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University), Duda has spent decades honing a visual language that is uniquely his own. His paintings are characterized by strong formal instincts, bold gestural marks, and a conceptual rigor that appeals to collectors drawn to process-based art. Rather than offering fixed meanings, Duda’s work presents viewers with what he calls “an investigation of possibilities,” where meaning is constantly shifting and redefined.

Duda’s art career has run parallel to a successful profession in advertising as a creative director and agency partner, further sharpening his instinct for visual impact and communication. Now dedicated full-time to his painting practice, he continues to explore the potential of abstraction to provoke thought and evoke emotion.

Joseph Duda has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and his work is held in private collections across Canada. For collectors seeking artwork that values conceptual depth and formal innovation, Duda’s paintings offer a rewarding addition to contemporary collections.
