(b. 1956, Kelowna, British Columbia | Lives and works in the Niagara Region, Ontario)

Alexandra Sheridan is a Canadian painter whose luminous oil and acrylic works reflect a deep reverence for the natural world. Working in a bold yet meditative realism, her compositions combine rich colour palettes, precise shapes, and strong lines softened by meticulously blended layers. Sheridan’s art resonates with collectors seeking powerful landscapes and nature-inspired works that evoke stillness, contemplation, and emotional depth.

Largely self-taught, Sheridan’s early influences include surrealists René Magritte and Georgia O’Keeffe, as well as Canadian modernists Lawren Harris and Alex Colville. These inspirations fuel a philosophical and aesthetic inquiry into beauty, solitude, and the metaphysical qualities of place. Her formal studies at Brock University (2002–2005) further developed this vision, earning her juried awards at the Roselawn Centre for the Arts (2003) and Brock University (2004).

Sheridan is also known for her commitment to community and outdoor painting. In 2018, she founded the Niagara Plein Air Artists, a group dedicated to exploring the region through collective painting sessions and exhibitions. Her dedication to plein air painting and visual storytelling has made her a fixture in Niagara’s art scene.

Today, Sheridan’s evolving style blends realism with subtle abstraction, offering collectors an introspective view of nature and the interconnectedness of life. Her paintings are held in private collections across North America and Europe, and her work continues to garner admiration for its technical mastery and philosophical depth.
