Michael Halliwell is a Canadian artist with an international perspective, having taught and exhibited across Switzerland, Australia, China, Slovakia, and Italy. Based in Ontario, Halliwell’s artistic journey spans over four decades and includes solo exhibitions, gallery representation, and corporate commissions. His work combines academic rigor with creative exploration, reflecting his deep experience as both an artist and educator. With degrees from OCAD University and York University, Halliwell’s paintings have been featured in corporate collections including CIBC, McDonald’s, and Deutsche Bank. Today, all sales from his art directly support charitable organizations such as Gillian’s Place, March of Dimes, and Community Care St. Catharines—making his work both culturally significant and socially impactful.

Michael Halliwell is a seasoned Canadian artist whose dynamic body of work reflects a lifetime of creativity, education, and international experience. Having lived and taught in Switzerland, Australia, China, Slovakia, and for nearly three decades in Italy, Halliwell brings a global perspective to his practice. His passion for experimentation and eclectic expression continues to shape a diverse and evolving portfolio.

Since 1975, Halliwell’s work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions and represented by prominent galleries across Canada and Europe, including The Shayne Gallery (Montreal), La Galerie Planque (Switzerland), and The Evans Gallery (Toronto). His paintings are housed in major corporate collections such as Deutsche Bank, McDonald’s Corporation, CIBC, and the Toronto Sun Corporation.

Educated at the Ontario College of Art (OCADU), University of Toronto, and York University, Halliwell holds honours degrees in Fine Art and brings over four decades of teaching experience in both English and the visual arts. This deep academic and professional foundation informs the technical skill, conceptual range, and emotional resonance of his work.

In a meaningful gesture of giving back, all proceeds from the sale of his artwork now go directly to charitable causes close to his heart: Gillian’s Place, March of Dimes, and Community Care of St. Catharines.
