PRESS RELEASE: Nature in Motion at Atelier Ironwood, Curated by Armstrong Fine Art Consulting
FOR RELEASE: June 16, 2026
NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON – June 2026 – Atelier Ironwood is pleased to present Nature in Motion, a compelling summer exhibition featuring the work of Ontario-based artists Karole Marois and Jill Sapiente. Opening on Sunday, July 12, 2026, this exhibition brings together two distinct yet complementary approaches to landscape painting—each exploring the vitality, movement, and emotional resonance of the natural world.
Through their unique visual languages, Marois and Sapiente examine nature as a living, evolving force. Their works move beyond traditional landscape representation, capturing instead the shifting energy of light, atmosphere, and memory. The exhibition invites viewers to experience nature not as a fixed image, but as a dynamic and immersive presence.
Karole Marois, a contemporary figurative painter based in Prince Edward County, draws on a long-established career and classical training to create works that are both poetic and reflective. Her recent explorations of water as subject and metaphor speak to themes of transformation, continuity, and the passage of time. Often integrating literary elements into her exhibitions, Marois offers a contemplative and layered engagement with the natural world.
Jill Sapiente, a Niagara-based painter, brings a bold and tactile approach to landscape through her expressive use of colour and texture. Working primarily in oils, Sapiente builds her compositions through dynamic layering techniques, using palette knives, brushes, and intuitive gestures to create surfaces that pulse with energy. Her work captures the immediacy of light and movement, translating lived experience into emotionally resonant forms.
Together, their practices create a dialogue between gesture and stillness, physicality and reflection—offering audiences a rich and multifaceted interpretation of nature in motion.
The public is invited to attend the opening reception and Meet the Artists event on Sunday, July 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. This is a unique opportunity to engage directly with both artists and gain insight into their creative processes.
Nature in Motion continues through August 5, 2026 in the Terrace Room at Atelier Ironwood.
