(b. London, Ontario | Lives and works in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada)
Lorraine Kelly is a Canadian visual artist whose bold, evocative paintings explore the interplay between environment, memory, and place. Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, Kelly creates expressive compositions informed by her life abroad and her deep connection to natural forms. Her richly coloured, atmospheric works often reflect a contemplative stillness—capturing the way surroundings shape emotion and personal perspective.
A self-taught artist, Kelly’s visual language emerged through a global lens. She spent over two decades living abroad in England, the U.S., and Singapore, where she explored a variety of techniques—from Chinese brush painting to etching and pastels. A turning point in her development came during a workshop in New Mexico inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe, whose influence continues to be felt in the quiet strength of Kelly’s compositions.
Lorraine’s work has been exhibited internationally and across Canada in solo and group shows. She has been published in Arabella Magazine (2022) and the NOTL Arts Collective Magazine, and was awarded Best in Show at Niagara Nights of Art. A passionate arts advocate, she regularly gives artist talks and teaches technique workshops in the Niagara Region. Her presentation, "Paint Where You Live: How Environment Influences Artist Style and Technique", has been featured at community organizations including Burlington Probus, University Women’s Club, and local senior residences.
Currently, Lorraine is represented by The Niagara Pumphouse, Artspace106, and her own home studio gallery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. She is a member of the Parkway Artists Guild, The Niagara Pumphouse, and the NOTL Arts Collective. In 2024, she was elected to the Art Directors Committee by the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW), St. Catharines branch, where she co-organized the inaugural Drawn to Niagara event.
For collectors and curators, Lorraine Kelly’s work offers a richly layered and thoughtful perspective—imbued with global experience and a deep appreciation of place, time, and transformation.
