Katia Perez Mendez is a Colombian-Canadian artist and architect whose vibrant mixed media and acrylic works explore memory, urban landscapes, and nature. Known for her expressive brushwork and architectural perspective, Katia’s art celebrates the interplay of structure and emotion—appealing to collectors who value storytelling through visual form.

Before immigrating to Canada in 2008, Katia taught drawing, painting, and art history at three universities in Bogotá. Her architectural background continues to influence her compositions, which often feature layered textures, bold palettes, and strong compositional lines. Works like Hamilton Boats at Sunset and Red Boats on the Beach reflect her ability to capture the quiet power of Canadian scenery through a lens of cultural memory and thoughtful design.

Since 2015, Katia has been active in art education across Hamilton and Niagara, encouraging creative expression and community connection. Her artwork has been exhibited in Toronto, Hamilton, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Stoney Creek, and is part of the Canada 150 Square Roots Project permanent collection. She has received numerous honours, including the Civic Recognition Award from the Town of Grimsby, and nominations for the St. Catharines Arts Awards (2015, 2018, 2020).

Passionate about inclusion and empowerment, Katia continues to teach, mentor, and inspire—making her an influential voice in the regional art scene and a meaningful choice for collectors invested in socially engaged, visually compelling Canadian art.
